SUMMARY:Find Your Force: First Annual Women's Doubles
DESCRIPTION:Find Your Force is an unsanctioned\, one-round\, best-disc\, bring-your-own-partner\, women’s doubles event at Wickham Park on Saturday\, May 13th. This event is the 4th event in NEWDG’s Bay State Queen Series presented by East Coast Metal Roofing. \nWe encourage those who have never competed in a tournament to make this your first! On tournament day\, there will be a meeting just for you\, where we will run through some rules and etiquette that you may not be familiar with. \nPlease register your team for the division based on the higher rating of the two team members. For age-protected divisions\, there is no combined age; both players’ ages must fall in the range of the division. \nTeam entry fees:\n$55 for Amateurs\n$80 for PROs. \nAmateurs Players’ Pack will include choice of one Find Your Force Disc and one Find Your Force Mini (marker)\, perhaps a few other cherished DG related items. . \nAmateur players compete for awards/trophies.\nAward system:\nDivision with 1-3 teams: 1st place award\nDivision with 4-6 teams: 1st and 2nd place awards\nDivision with 7 or more teams: 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd place awards \nPRO players will have cash payouts. \n22-hole layout will be finalized and announced by April 13th. All scoring for this event will be on UDisc. Cards will be pre-assigned. Play will follow PDGA rules and a Mini must be used to mark your lie (no flipping please). \nAce Pot: During Check-in on tournament day\, each player will have the option to buy into an Ace Pot for $5 (cash only). If no aces after 22 holes\, the Ace fund will go to Wickham Park. \nOptions offered only during registration:\nAmateurs- Team Mulligans (tee shot only) for $5 each (during registration); max of 2 per team. \nAll: Raffle tickets are 10 for $5. Raffle will be held after awards ceremony. \nAll: Distance Challenge: $10 for those individuals interested in staying beyond awards/raffle and joining a distance challenge (throw 5 discs each)\, with winner take all. Two pools AMs and PROs. \nAll: Tee Sponsorship is $25 for those interested in having their name or company name posted at a tee for the day. \n$5 from every amateur team’s fees go towards #AllAboutBirdies\, a 50/50 pot\, with half the fund awarded to the amateur team with the most total birdies; the other half of the fund will be donated to Audubon. Any tie will be resolved with a CTP (closest to the pin) throw off after awards/raffle. \nBalance of the proceeds from Find Your Force tournament will be divided between Breast Cancer Alliance and Wickham Park Disc Golf Fund. \nThis is a pay-to-park facility\, the parking fee is $10 per car. \nIf you have any questions\, please contact sherrysboyd@gmail.com

SUMMARY:Throw Pink at Olcott Park
DESCRIPTION:This year the Northland is celebrating Xena Hannine! She is a 9-year-old from Cook\, MN\, a martial artist at Resurgence Martial Arts\, and volunteers her time with her church\, the First Baptist Church of Cook. Let’s support Xena and her family as they do in our community.\nXena was diagnosed on February 22\, 2020 – less than a month before Covid made the world crazy. Chronic myeloid leukemia (Xena’s diagnosis) is very rare in childhood leukemia. Typically it manifests in older adults- mainly meaning they don’t have a clear understanding of how treatments will affect her in the long term and what the long-term success rate of her treatment will be. \nAfter her initial treatments in early March 2020 – she was put on an oral chemotherapy drug- she takes daily- and we do blood labs monthly\, with bone marrow draws quarterly. She has also done several EKG tests and endocrine system evals to determine how the drug affects her young system. Because CML is almost exclusively exhibited in older people\, patients generally continue the dasatinib (chemo drug) for the remainder of their life. Xena has continued to show progress- and is extremely close to what they consider “cured.” That is to say\, they cannot detect the cancer cell in her bloodwork. We anticipate that she will meet these criteria at her testing in early October\, praise God! \nShe will continue the chemotherapy drug into the summer of 2023\, then they will wean her off\, and we will begin to monitor weekly for any changes. If the CML indicators return\, our final option is bone marrow transfusion- something that comes with a whole new set of risks. Continuing treatments with the dasatinib could be possible- but it would alter her entire life (no kids likely is only one\, other possibilities they don’t even know). \nWe are blessed to have sufficient insurance\, which covers the majority of the cost – but lab and doctor visits monthly and hospital visits quarterly take their toll – we have a grant plus the insurance that covers most of the medications she takes – we still pay —$847 twice a year- when our grant funds run out. She is on a restricted diet- which makes shopping cost some more -\, but I refuse to over-restrict her into losing her childhood- like birthdays\, ice cream\, picnics\, and s’more. \nXena -all things considered- is healthy\, happy\, and active. She tires more quickly than she did. I refuse to make whatever we are granted about getting more – God’s grace will prevail- and she will live a life as full as she can until He calls her home- I pray like no from now. She is a beautiful\, strong girl- with a courageous heart who loves creating art in various medians. She touches everyone patient enough to know her – she is kind and has a heart for the lost and mistreated. She has been challenging from the beginning- but every moment has been worth it.

Each pool will play one round Saturday on each of the Lake Russell and Guidestones course.\nSunday will consist of one round of 27 on the Lake Russell Sunday 27 layout. (Reduction to 18 on OG Russell\, possible) \nENTRY FEE\nEntry fee includes: $1 GSS fee\, $2 PDGA fee\, $10 Greens fee. \n100% of the ladies will receive a payout.\nAM Ladies our goal will be to hopefully pay out your full $25 entry fee.\nLadies’ entry fee will not include a player’s pack\, but you will have the option to add a player pack at registration if desired. DESCRIPTION:Daisy Chains is a one day two round C-tier and is apart of the Women’s Global Event. Daisy Chains will be hosted at Pinto Lake Dosc Golf a course in Watsonville\, CA. We set up a fun 18 layout using alternate (Daisy Chains) tee pads to make the course more scorable and fun for all divisions. \nNot only will be playing 2 rounds of 18 holes\, but we will have CTPs for each division plus side games such as a “poker table” to win a Whale Sac while you’re walking off hole 18. \nThis year\, Daisy Chains raffle proceeds will be donated to Walnut Avenue Center which is a women’s center in Santa Cruz.
