How you got into the game: Was introduced to disc golf by my husband that took me on a date night.
Why do you Throw Pink?: I love to throw discs to make a difference. Whether big or small, we have an opportunity to raise awareness of healthy living for women by being active while having fun doing so. Providing the education and outlet for those to not only learn about different types of cancers that so many battle with daily, but also getting to be a part of helping meet the needs of those families through local charities.
Favorite Disc Golf Moment: One of my favorite disc golf moments that started my whole competitive disc golf journey was when my husband surprised me and brought me to Worlds for my birthday in 2017 following the FPO lead card. This is where I met Lisa Fajkus and she encouraged me to compete in US Womens in Johnson City. This is where my disc golf career started.

How you got into the game: I first picked up the sport in 2003 while living in Orlando, Florida recreationally with a few of my friends. After returning home to Las Vegas, I met my DG mentor and good friend Jeff Jacquart. I was dragooned into service by Jeff at the 2011 Gentleman’s Club Challenge, now known as the LVC and quite possibly the greatest tournament in the sport.
In the time since, I have served our local club in such roles as Board of Directors, recording secretary, treasurer, and President of the Las Vegas Disc Golf Club.
Why do you Throw Pink? I Throw Pink to help women who are suffering from breast cancer.
I was first made aware of Throw Pink as a staff member for the Las Vegas Challenge. The partnership between Throw Pink and the LVC has always been a labor of love for me. In 2015, my wife Lyra Lynn Hynie was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer that would later develop into stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer. Lyra’s battle ended May 20th, 2018 with her passing. She loved the work that Throw Pink was doing and I continue that fight for her.
Favorite Disc Golf Moment: Every year we seem to find a way to improve the Las Vegas Challenge. My favorite moments are those shared with all the return competitors.

How you got into the game: I was introduced to DG through a friend visiting us on vacation.
Why do you Throw Pink? I Throw Pink because I believe in making a difference in women’s health. So many ladies all over need encouragement and support. I’m grateful to be able to join in and be apart of a team that helps ladies become active, getting outside, learning the sport of DG while making a difference for all women’s health initiatives.
Favorite disc golf moment: Favorite moments in DG are bringing new friends out for a round and seeing how quickly they realize how much fun DG is and that it can become a lifelong, family outing. It’s also great when you have some of those friends that want to dive into the competitive tournament side of DG.

Why do you Throw Pink? I Throw Pink because it encompasses perseverance in the face of adversity.
Favorite disc golf moment: My favorite disc golf moments are found in the times spent with my fellow lady golfers when we’re traveling to and from tournaments. I cannot pinpoint one moment because they are all magical in their own right. These are the times where we take our competition hats off and share our vulnerabilities and weaknesses – those which make us shine our brightest. I am lucky to be surrounded by so many courageous and warm-hearted women in this sport. Thank you for all the moments!

How you got into the game: I always played sports. After high school, I played co-ed softball. I would walk the disc golf course with my boyfriend until one day I said “I want to give it a try” and the rest is history.
Why do you Throw Pink? I love what we’re doing. I love that we are doing something we love but also helping our local communities. There is no better feeling than being able to give back in some way, and for me, this is the best way to do it.

How you got into the game: A college professor invited me to play thinking I would be decent at disc golf since I was a competitive ultimate player. He was wrong, but I was hooked and eventually transitioned from ultimate to disc golf.
Why do you Throw Pink? I Throw Pink because I am passionate about the mission of promoting physical activity among women and girls and raising awareness for cancer. I lost my mom to cancer in 1998 and am grateful that I can use my love of disc golf to make a difference.
Favorite disc golf moment: My favorite disc golf moment was when I made the final four at the Amateur World Championships in 2014. I was five strokes back from Vanessa Van Dyken, so it was going to be really difficult to catch her. I had enough strokes in third place that I could just have fun and play my game. I remember having a huge smile on my face during the entire experience because I was so ecstatic to have made it that far.

How you got into the game: At first, it was a therapeutic outlet for mental health. However, it quickly became a daily routine where I could give back to a community that welcomed me with open arms.
Why do you Throw Pink? I can cut a very long story short, by explaining I suffer from a kitchen sink of mental health issues. Bipolar depression being the root cause of much of my passion for causes. Without a handful of medication in the morning and in the evening, I would without a doubt not be here today. I have a love/hate relationship with my health, but with my doctor’s suggestion, I found disc golf when told to look outdoors. Never did I ever imagine it would save me the way that it did, and I have a very personal story. I am supportive of all women’s initiatives and a huge mental health advocate. This came about after finding a mass in my left breast in 2010. Not only did it ignite an ember, which at the time I did not know would eventually burn me to the ground like a wildfire, but it also set me on my path now with fighting mental health stigmas. I would go to doctor after doctor, eventually being sent to UNC’s Breast Center yearly for mammograms with a side of anxiety and panic attacks. Now I’ve turned 40 and the anxiety is back because it’s time for the yearly mammograms. I watched my aunt fight breast cancer twice, recently a co-worker, and so many others over the years. Some aren’t with me anymore. Throw Pink is my way of healing myself while helping others.
Favorite disc golf moment: My favorite moment was getting the opportunity to play in my first major, the 2018 Amateur World Championships in Charlotte, NC. It allowed me the opportunity to meet other players from across the country that shared the same passion for the sport as I did; friendships that I keep to this day.

How you got into the game: After the death of my father, who I was taking care of 24/7, I needed something to fill my time and help with my grief. My husband had been a pro disc golfer for over 20 years and had been encouraging me to try, so I did. I now play over 30 tournaments a year.
Why do you Throw Pink? I believe in Throw Pinks’s mission statement. I co-coordinate a women’s league in Rochester and I am always encouraging other women and girls to come out and try disc golf. We have grown the league from 6 to over 20 in two years. Another big reason is that my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and eventually had a double mastectomy. I run a tournament in October called Share the Love to raise money for the Elizabeth Wende Breast Care Center in Rochester. And I love Innova discs!
Favorite disc golf moment: This year I got my first ace with a forehand on a 265-foot hole where I couldn’t see the basket from the tee.

How you got into the game:
Two friends asked me to join them in a round of disc golf one day. I ended up playing three rounds that day. The next morning I bought my own discs and went back to play more.
Why do you Throw Pink?
Cancer is a Brutal fight. We owe it to people we love and people we don’t even know to lend a hand when we are able to. I Throw Pink because it allows me to lend a hand and introduce people to disc golf.
Favorite disc golf moment:
every time I watch a disc fly.

How you got into the game: I followed my guys around, my son, my dad, and 3 brothers, and learned of the sport from them, and then I started working on a course for the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort & Casino in my hometown Mescalero, New Mexico. I was asked by the council and managers if I played and my answer was no, so they asked me why not and if I didn’t play why I wanted a course installed, so I tried it out and from then on I started playing disc golf and fell in love with the sport. Now I play in Philadelphia, Mississippi.
Why do you Throw Pink? Because there are a lot of people who think women don’t play disc golf.
Favorite disc golf moment: The day I met my Husband Jay for the 1st time in Arkansas for the 36th Annual Arkansas State Disc Golf Championships June 1, 2019, and from this tournament, we have not been apart since. He found me on Facebook after I sponsored a tournament in Alabama. Accepting his friend request was the best thing I’ve ever done, we are now married and have a beautiful baby girl named Kaya Nizoni Juanita Murray.

How did you get into the game?
My boyfriend and I were looking for ways to get outside and stay active during Covid, and we heard about disc golf and gave it a shot. I only wish we had heard about the sport sooner! I joined my local women’s disc golf club a few months later and became a board member.
Why do you Throw Pink?
For my grandmother, who had breast cancer. Also, I am a P.E. teacher and love getting kids active and introducing them to the game.
Favorite disc golf moment?
2021 USWDGC. After winning my division on the last hole, I looked up and saw one of my best friends who had also just won her division. We ran to each other, hugged, and cried together.

How you got into the game: My best friend played and gave me a few discs. I didn’t really enjoy disc golf at first but fell in love with it once I started to play competitively.
Why do you Throw Pink? I love that Throw Pink is focused on growing the sport and supporting women’s health initiatives. I love that we can have fun, create friendships, and support meaningful causes.
Favorite disc golf moment: I love the feeling of teaching a new player a skill and watching their excitement when they execute it. Those are the moments that keep a player coming back to the course!

How you got into the game: My boyfriend brought me to Sedgley Woods in Philadelphia, one of the oldest disc golf courses in the country, to show me how to play and I got hooked on the game and the community instantly!
Why do you Throw Pink? I Throw Pink because of the empowerment of women and girls in disc golf. Fostering awareness for women’s health initiatives is a mission I am passionate about and believe we as a team can make a difference. I am grateful to be part of such an amazing organization.
Favorite disc golf moment: Each time I get to play with other women. I love the encouragement we all give to each other on the card. Sharing ways to improve, a better disc to throw for that shot, hollers, and heck yeah!s when we make a good shot. It’s why I love this sport.
Favorite quote: “Leadership is about making others better as a result of your presence and making sure that impact lasts in your absence.” – Sheryl Sandberg

How did you get into the game? The first time I picked up a disc was in a middle school physical education class at my alma mater. I spent the two-week unit only throwing a tomahawk at the time! Fast forward, after graduating college and returning home for a visit, I stumbled upon a bag of old discs in my dad’s garage. I’ve always loved hiking, and there was a course in a wooden park near my home- so I just figured why don’t I bring discs with me the next time I go out. I ended up having tons of fun, met awesome people on the course, and then eventually was engulfed into the disc golf community. I’ve never looked back since.
Why do you Throw Pink? What makes this organization unique is the idea it stands behind- elevating the sport for women. I also really appreciate that Throw Pink has a lot of discs in the light-weight range (and a bonus is that they are pink in color). I was never able to effortlessly hit more than 300 ft until I bagged a light-weight Mamba from Throw Pink. My game ultimately changed for the better as I was finally able to reach my desired distance without ripping my arms off.
Favorite disc golf moment? My favorite memory has to be the “Virginia is for Disc Golf Lovers” tournament! I was playing FPO and it snowed the whole time. I went to a playoff for the first time after having scored the same as my opponent, and I was able to clutch the win with a 300 ft anhyzer drive through the trees using Shryke! This shot was also caught on a video too.

Why do you Throw Pink? What’s better than sharing something your passionate about with other people while shedding light on a good cause? Disc golf has brought me so much confidence and keeps me active and I want to share that with my community.
Favorite disc golf moment: My first sanctioned tournament. I had to move up a division since there weren’t enough females playing. We tied after three courses and went into sudden death for 5 holes taking my first win.

How you got into the game: In college, my boyfriend (now husband) was pretty into disc golf. I’ve always liked sports, so I decided to give it try. It only took 16 years before I tried to play competitively.
Why do you Throw Pink? My mom taught me early on to always be of service to others when I have the chance. Many incredible women in my life have fought, won, and lost battles with breast cancer. Throw Pink gives me the opportunity to be of service to girls and women in my community through disc golf.
Favorite disc golf moment: My favorite is not really a single moment, but rather a constant. I recently moved to Omaha, Nebraska where there is an amazing ladies league. Getting to spend my Wednesday evenings with incredible women playing disc golf is the absolute best.

How you got into the game: My boyfriend suggested that we try disc golf and we got a group of friends together a played. I found it hard to keep up with the men so I didn’t like it much at first. I found a course with a great community of ladies that showed me some tips on how to throw and what level to enter into for my first tournament. I found something I loved to do and that was a huge turning point in my career.
Why do you Throw Pink? I Throw Pink for many reasons. I love the message the company stands for as I’ve had multiple women in my life affected by breast cancer. It’s a symbol of strength and resilience- and awareness for many. I also love pink because it’s easy to find on the course or in that winter snow on the course!
Favorite disc golf moment: My favorite disc golf moment was at the AM Worlds in 2019, where I got my first ever Ace! It was during the tournament round and I was on the hole debating throwing my putter or my mid-range. I threw my putter down and confidently put my compass down the fairway and it slammed right into the basket. I was so happy I ran all the way to the basket with tears in my eyes!! It was something I will never forget!
Favorite quote: “Hard work beats talent, if talent doesn’t work hard enough.” Yes, talent is very important in this sport but sometimes hard work and dedication can get you just as far.

How you got into the game:
My husband was playing with a friend. I had been a college athlete and a PE teacher so I thought I would give it a shot. I am right-handed but it didn’t feel good to throw it with my right hand. Instead, I taught myself to throw left-handed and fell in love with the game.
Why do you Throw Pink?
I throw pink for my great grandmother, my nana, my mother and for myself. I throw pink for my daughter who will more than likely have her own battle in the future based on our family history and gene mutation.
I throw pink as a breast cancer survivor for those who are still fighting.
Favorite disc golf moment:
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in February of 2020 and had 5 surgeries from March of 2020 – to August 2021. It was my goal to be 100% ready for the NADGT in Austin this last October.
On October 31st, 2021 I became the National Amateur FA40 Champion, winning by 17 strokes. The best part was it was the last day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

How you got into the game: A local Innova team member lives in my area and he did a few beginner clinics in our area in the fall of 2017. I really enjoyed the sport and signed up for my first event in January of 2018. Since then I’ve been hooked!
Why do you Throw Pink? I Throw Pink because I believe in the mission of getting women and girls active and I want to be able to empower others to take control of their health and wellness. Disc golf has led me back to an active life myself and I’m excited to share that with others. I think it is important to show others how disc golf is a low impact activity that anyone can compete in. Being able to bring light to Throw Pink’s mission of bringing together, helping, and empowering women is something I’m excited to be involved in.
Favorite disc golf moment: 2019 Pam Childs Memorial Tournament-I took on the IDGC blind for a two-round event. Those are some tough courses that’s for sure! They had to send a search party for us during the first round! 🙂 Our second round was much better and much to my surprise I pulled out a one-stroke win! It was a great day of fun where I met some new friends, camped, and even won a Throw Pink basket in the raffle!

How you got into the game:
I got into the game during COVID because it was a way to remain active and something that I could do outside. I continued to stay in the game because of being surrounded by nature on these courses and all of the people I have met along this journey!
Why do you Throw Pink?
I Throw Pink because it is truly a family. The support for women disc golfers worldwide, spreading the message of health and wellness for women, and raising support and awareness for breast cancer is all a part of why I Throw Pink!

How you got into the game: Some friends and roommates from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC introduced me to the sport. My hometown in Wilkesboro, NC had just got a course installed and we played every chance we got.
Why do you Throw Pink? Throw Pink to me is more than just wearing pink or throwing pink disc on the course. It is a movement of growth in disc golf for ladies of all ages. It is #RespectHerGame. It is raising money to contribute to the health and well-being of ladies battling sickness. Throw Pink is much more than disc golf; it is a community.
Favorite disc golf moment: On May 22, 2020, my {9 month} pregnant wife and I were out on the disc golf course. She was just spectating and trying to walk our baby out while I played. I hit an ACE that round and not long after hitting my ACE, my wife went into labor. We rushed her home to get our hospital bags and after several hours of labor at the hospital, our first son was born. That is the greatest disc golf moment I could ever have.

Why do you Throw Pink? I have a couple of close friends that are breast cancer survivors. I also support the growth of the sport – especially for women! In the area that I live in, there are not very many women players. My goal this next year is to try and change that.
Favorite disc golf moment: I was fortunate enough to go to the Women’s USDGC event in Virginia in 2019. Every moment there was special. I got to meet (and take selfies) with most of the pros that were there. I got to meet a lot of new people and make some new friends for life!

How you got into the game:
I was given a RPM discs starter pack as a gift a few years ago. I didn’t know anything about the game, so they were pretty much unused until my work colleagues invited me to join them for a game at Jellie Park in Christchurch. I loved everything about it. Being outdoors, meeting others, throwing, having a laugh, and being challenged. I was hooked!
Why do you Throw Pink?
I love disc golf and how fun and social it can be. I want to share this enjoyment with other women. I was extremely surprised to see how few women play disc golf in New Zealand and I’m enthusiastic to help change this. I am also very passionate about raising funds for charity, so it seems a win-win situation. I feel Throw Pink is a movement rather than an organisation which feels very special to be a part of. I also Throw Pink as I lost a very close friend to breast cancer not long after we went into Covid lockdown, and I felt like this was what I was meant to do. It feels right.
Favorite disc golf moment:
My first ever tournament round stands out as a favourite disc golf moment of mine. I had the typical first tournament nerves which were heightened once I found out I was on a card with New Zealand’s top female disc golfer who I completely admire. This made my first tournament round an experience to remember and something to strive for in the future.

Why do you Throw Pink? Throw Pink is all about empowering females to get out and be active while making a difference for women’s health. Why NOT Throw Pink?
Favorite disc golf moment: Getting my first ace and every ace after it has to be the best feeling in the world.

How you got into the game:
I was introduced to the game in 2018 by my husband’s friend. I thought it was silly the first time I tried. The second time we went out to throw, I made a good toss and was instantly hooked. We started playing every weekend, and when I tried my first tournament, it was all over for me. I became obsessed and just fell in love.
Why do you Throw Pink?
I Throw Pink to help bring focus to women’s health issues and to help raise money for more research. I’ve had an aunt pass from cancer, and I know there is a cure out there.
Favorite disc golf moment:
So far, my favorite disc golf moment was playing casual doubles round with Ohn Scoggins. She wasn’t my partner, but we had a great time hanging out, and it was nice to see an FPO player outside of what the cameras show on the course.

How you got into the game: I was dating a guy that played pretty competitively. He took me to play disc golf on our second date. I fell into a hole on the course; thought I might have broken my ankle and turned every par 3 hole into a snowman (8 strokes or more)! I thought disc golf was the dumbest sport created. However, my competitive nature kicked in and I really liked this guy, so I started practicing in the afternoons by myself to get better. I was ready to call it quits playing together one afternoon when I hit a field ace at Lake Russell from 200 feet out. I can still hear the sound of the disc hitting the chains! That sound created an addiction! I wanted to feel that thrill and excitement again!
Why do you Throw Pink? I love the mission and what Throw Pink represents. I might have gotten into disc golf because of a boy, however, it is the women and friendships that I have created over the years that keep me playing. I want to encourage other women to get outside, have fun, and become active. Disc golf is a sport for the whole family. It’s a great way to have fun and build friendships. Throw Pink is an amazing way, I can encourage other woman and girls to get outside and get active while at the same time raising awareness for women’s health and giving back to my community.
Favorite disc golf moment: There are few favorite moments that stand out. The first is the field ace that got me hooked on disc golf. The second would be hitting an ace warming up for USWDGC and then taking a bogey on the hole twice during the tournament. And third, winning Intermediate Women at USWDGC, a PDGA major in 2019.

How you got into the game: My long time friend Fidelis invited me out to a round at Riverside DGC in 2004. I have always loved playing outdoors and this sport all the right ingredients for me: beautiful scenic parks, a challenging game, and go at your own pace. For many years I enjoyed playing casually. It became a great tool for stress relief while getting some exercise and fresh air. 2018 I found myself with a desire to challenge myself with learning proper body mechanics and strengthen my skills. NW Disc Group on Facebook opened that door for me where I found some great players that I could learn from and took lessons from some awesome coaches. So I “REALLY” started playing in 2018. Before that, I didn’t even follow a map! I want to send a Thank you to UDisc and Disc Golf Review for putting resources together for all the players. It is just so awesome to see how much this sport has evolved over the years.
Why do you Throw Pink? I Throw Pink for the beauty of helping to bring awareness and support for breast cancer and women’s health. This is a great cause that I will proudly stand behind.
Favorite disc golf moment: My favorite disc moment was when I introduced my tuk-tuk driver in Cambodia to disc golf and gave him his first Buzz. Oh and successful top of the world shots.

How you got into the game: My boyfriend (now husband) brought me to a disc golf course near my university campus for our first date. At first, I would just go with him and try to throw a couple of shots, but after a while, I was hooked. It gave me a sense of accomplishment to see my disc flying farther and going where I had hoped it would go.
Why do you Throw Pink? Throw Pink is an excellent platform that advocates an active lifestyle and promotes physical and mental health awareness to the public. I love outdoor activities, preferably to be close to nature. I believe through Throw Pink, I can share my passion for disc golf and make a difference through the sport I love.

How you got into the game: Traditionally, my boyfriend got me into disc golf. and had me play a round in Vegas. Two months later, he signed me up for my first tournament in Wisconsin. After I dried off from all the rain and could feel my arm again from all 181 throws(mind you I had not played more than 1 round before this tournament), I was hooked on the competitiveness and technical challenge of attempting to master different shots.
Why do you Throw Pink? Sharing the gift of disc golf with other ladies in my community all while honoring those who have battled breast cancer, like my Grandma.
Favorite disc golf moment: Traveling to Las Vegas with Kiy to play in the Halloween classic with her for her first tournament(she won, beat 20+ people!).

How you got into the game: On my birthday (8/16/2020) my boyfriend Cooper took me to play at Arrowhead Park in Wilmington. From that moment, I was a goner – I had my first discs within a week, my first bag shortly after that. I’ve played at least once a week since.
Why do you Throw Pink? II Throw Pink to grow the sport, to make a difference, to inspire others, to bring awareness, and because I’m high risk for cancer. My heart goes out to every woman who goes for those bi-annual doctor’s visits and waits in terror for the week after, hoping the results come back in their favor. By raising awareness for women’s health, I hope that one day, no one will have to know the anxious feeling of waiting for a test result.
I Throw Pink because I also want every woman to have the same experiences with disc golf that I have, to have somewhere they feel comfortable being themselves, to know that they are welcome without bias or agenda.
Favorite disc golf moment: My first clinic – the Throw Pink Ladies Clinic at the 2020 USDGC. I learned so much in one day from so many amazing ladies, I had only been playing for two months when I signed up for that clinic. It was truly the best thing I’ve ever done, it inspired me to work hard and do better – it also introduced me to an amazing non-profit, Throw Pink. It’s also helped me to help others: Elaine King, Callie McMorran, and Tiger Borth taught me how to move while driving (rather than standing still); Debbie Scott & Ellen Widboom helped me learn how to throw midrange and to know that the circle of safety around the basket is better than cranking a disc and not being near the basket at all; Holly Finley helped me learn to use my hyzer putt to my advantage and that it’s okay if my putts aren’t always perfect (that’s what practice is for) – all these memories and learned skills I use when someone asks me for help, I share with them what I was taught.

How you got into the game: My ultimate frisbee team had a casual disc golf tournament to celebrate the end of the season. My boyfriend took the opportunity to teach me how to throw disc golf discs, and I was quickly captivated by the new challenges of the sport.
Why do you Throw Pink? Playing sports has been a great source of joy, growth, self-confidence, and wellness that I want others to experience. Women are underrepresented in both disc golf and ultimate frisbee, and Throw Pink’s mission of improving the health of women through sport resonates deeply with me. Throw Pink also leverages its platform to promote the visibility of women in disc golf which facilitates a more diverse and equitable future for the sport.
Favorite disc golf moment: During my first tournament (that I played in the men’s rec division), I told myself to play confidently but with low expectations. I didn’t look at the scores all round, but on hole 18, my card mate told me I was tied for 2nd out of 35. That was my first 900+ rated round, and it was such a pleasant surprise when I had been nervous going into the tournament.

How you got into the game:
My husband introduced me to disc golf! We were dating at the time and he took me out on the course as a date! I loved the beautiful surroundings and the way the discs looked like they were dancing in the air!
Why do you Throw Pink?
I Throw Pink because it is important to me to spread awareness for women’s health!!
Favorite disc golf moment:
The first time I actually got a disc to really fly! The first few times I went out with my husband to play I couldn’t get a disc to fly past about 50-80ft maybe.
This one time, I stepped up to the tee box, threw a forehand shot, and it sailed!! It probably wasn’t much over 150ft but it lit a fire in me and I will never forget the feeling of accomplishment I got from it!

1) How did you get into the game? In 2018, my ex-boyfriend introduced me to disc golf. I fell in love with it and kept playing even after we broke up.
2) Why do you Throw Pink? I love Throw Pink and how it makes all women feel like they belong on the course. I love to bring a strong female presence to the disc golf course. I think it is important in this sport.
3) Favorite Disc Golf Moment: My favorite moment was my time in Madison, WI, at USWDGC. It was the second USWDGC I played in an incredible setting that almost made me cry. To feel the unity in Women from everywhere sharing this passion and the inclusivity it brings. Some of my favorite women on the planet are those I have met through disc golf.
4) Favorite Discs: My favorite discs are my AGL lineup, which I dyed to be mine, and my son’s favorite Pokemon characters. I love to play a Pokemon disc golf round with my boys.

How you got into the game: I got into disc golf thanks to my boyfriend Travis Hayes. He played in college and has been a member of the PDGA since 2016. When we first met he took me to an open field to teach me how to throw and I instantly fell in love. As a former softball athlete, I was all about throwing objects for a sport. From that moment on I was hooked and couldn’t get enough of the sport… or him ; )
Why do you Throw Pink? I Throw Pink in honor of my grandmothers’ who both had cancer and unfortunately passed away while battling a very hard fight. They both were such strong women before being diagnosed and it amazed me how much stronger they became while battling cancer and somehow managed to stay positive. They will always be warriors in my mind. Throwing Pink helps allow me the opportunity to mix disc golf and raising funds to help others affected by cancer and it is an honor. I also Throw Pink to help encourage others to keep a healthy lifestyle while enjoying the great outdoors!
Favorite disc golf moment: My favorite disc golf moment would have to be when we held our first disc golf tournament on our private course, located on our horse farm. My boyfriend Travis Hayes and his friend Tim Gaddy started building the course about 4 years ago. When I came along he introduced me not only to the sport but also to building a course and course maintenance. I had the opportunity to not only learn about the sport as a player but also see all the hard work that goes into designing, building, and maintaining a course. I have such a high appreciation and respect for those individuals that take this endeavor on. In July 2019 we had our grand opening and held our first tournament at the course. There was nothing like the feeling of seeing the course “come to life” with players and seeing all of Travis’ and Tim’s hard work pay off. It was an incredible day and I still get that feeling every time we get ready to hold a tournament at what is now officially called, “The Horse Course”!

How you got into the game: I was an avid Ultimate player in my youth – from recreational weekend play to tournaments in the south. In 1995, my friend was laying out for a catch at a tournament and broke his collarbone. While sitting in the emergency room waiting for them to reset it, he mentions to me that there’s this thing called disc golf and you don’t have to run, jump, or lay-out for catches. This was intriguing since we were both getting older and slower, so after he healed up, we started playing. My first course was Earlewood in Columbia, SC. I learned a lot from Ed Garris (local pro) and my buddy. Back then, there weren’t a lot of discs, so we threw whatever we could get our hands on. I think my beginning bag had a Cyclone, Cobra, Gazelle, Cheetah, Shark, and Aviar.
Why do you Throw Pink? I try to promote and grow disc golf to everyone I meet. I like Throw Pink’s mission and feel like I can use my talents and abilities to help encourage more women & girls to get out, play, and be more active through the sport that I love.
Favorite disc golf moment: When I hit my first ace while playing in a tournament at Earlewood. It’s all the more special because it was where I first started playing.

How you got into the game: I truly got the “disc golf bug” when quarantine started. I always knew the basics on how to play, but in February of 2020, I began playing every day as a way to stay active during the pandemic; my love for the sport escalated quickly. I still play 5-6 times per week!
Why do you Throw Pink? I Throw Pink because I whole-heartedly believe in the mission and cause. Having lost a few friends to other forms of cancer, and having an Aunt who battled and survived breast cancer, I cannot think of a better organization to represent. From the brand to the people, and everything in between, Throw Pink is a MOVEMENT!
Favorite disc golf moment: How to pick just one?!? My favorite disc golf moment was my birdie-3 on a 600’ par-4 at David L. Baker Golf Course during the West Coast Disc Golf Fall Sanctioned Series. I threw an epic 400’ roller, followed by a precise hyzer upshot, followed by an easy tap-in putt. I later placed first in that same 10-week series for the FA1 division, my first ever win!

Why do you Throw Pink?
Women’s community in our sport is really important to me. Women represent a small fraction of disc golfers- if we want that to grow, we need to support and encourage each other!
Favorite disc golf moment?

Why do you Throw Pink? I am a breast cancer previvor. Living ‘Pink’ has been part of my life since December of 2014. With guidance from my primary medical provider and countless peer-reviewed articles, I have made changes in my life to decrease my cancer risk. Disc golf was an integral piece that helped me with overcoming my fears of getting breast cancer. Introducing a healthy avenue to others has helped me persevere and overcome my own battles is why I Throw Pink.

How you got into the game: My husband had played a bit and when we first moved to California we didn’t know many people so it was an activity we picked up to spend time together. Then after my husband’s military service ended and we moved home we sort of fell back into playing because our neighborhood had a course and from there it developed into a passion and love of the sport and community.
Why do you Throw Pink? I Throw Pink for my family and loved ones who have experienced the hardships that cancer causes. I also Throw Pink to inspire others to always strive for improvement and to not be afraid of going outside of their comfort zone because it can bring amazing opportunities and friendships your way.
Favorite disc golf moment: The past two years we have been lucky enough to volunteer at Ledgestone and that has allowed us to meet so many of the professional players in person. I’ve been lucky to play some rounds with a few female pros from Michigan and that’s just been astounding.

How you got into the game:
I got into disc golf when I was a kid because my dad played all the time. I like to think he was one of the ‘OG’ disc golfers. He played all the time and always brought us kids to join. It sparked my passion for the sport. I played on and off until I joined the US Air Force. I took a hiatus for about four years, and now I’m BACK. I’ve kickstarted my passion for the sport again! It’s nostalgic and peaceful for me.
Why do you Throw Pink?
I Throw Pink because with everything going on in this world, why not throw something that’ll help other people? Why not do everything you can to support people who need it most? I’ve had numerous family members and friends die of cancer, and if my throwing pink helps anyone, I will do it.
Favorite disc golf moment:
I’ve played disc golf my whole life on and off, and every moment I get out there to throw is a great moment, so I’m not sure I have one specific moment that’s my favorite.

How you got into the game: My brother-in-law, Steve, got me into it. He and my husband, Kevin, had been trying for years to get me to do it, and finally one day, Steve gave me an old Roc and said “grip it and rip it”, and I did. It was awesome. Since then, disc golf has become such a huge part of our life and is directly responsible for all my friendships. The disc golf community was so open and welcoming from the moment we moved into this new city, and now they are like family to me.
Why do you Throw Pink? Throw Pink is very special for the disc golf community in Las Vegas. There are personal ties for our group, and it is important to continue the Throw Pink legacy built here in Vegas by Jesse Hynie.
Also empowering women, building the sisterhood, and supporting each other in all that we do, even outside of disc golf. Encouraging women to understand that their health and well-being is SO important, both mentally and physically, and Throw Pink is exactly what that embodies. I am proud to Throw Pink.
Favorite disc golf moment: My favorite disc golf moment was definitely volunteering to help with my first big tournament in February 2019. Every February, Las Vegas hosts the LVC (Las Vegas Challenge), and everyone I know volunteers to work it; it’s an amazing event. There is so much heart and sweat that goes into this tournament, and being a part of it the past 3 years has solidified me into the disc golf family. I get to meet the pros, sell merchandise, mingle with other players, work behind the scenes for weeks leading up to it, and learn so much about the ins and outs of this sport and how to run events. It is definitely one of the coolest things I have ever been a part of.

1) How did you get into the game? The week before the COVID lockdown, I broke my foot in a soccer game. After that, my husband started playing disc golf. When I was finally learning to walk again, I started walking the courses as he played. After a couple of weeks, I started learning how to play.
2) Why do you Throw Pink? I Throw Pink to support women playing disc golf and introduce new people to the sport. Many women feel like they aren’t good enough to play tournaments or leagues. I Throw Pink to show women they can get out there and make a difference in the world.
3) Favorite Disc Golf Moment: I had only been playing disc golf for about a year, and we went to play Dry Creek with a couple of friends. About 8-10 people were waiting for others at hole 1, and they allowed us to tee off before them. My first shot (without warming up) hit the tree branches above the basket and went in the basket. This was my first ace! All of the other people at hole 1 were excited and congratulated me. What made it even better was that at multiple other events I have been at, I’ve run into some of those people, and they have recognized me from that ace.

I was hooked after my first great drive and haven’t stopped since!
Why do you Throw Pink? I Throw Pink for the ladies in my life. My mother, aunt, and grandmother are all survivors of breast cancer, and after all of their struggles with breast cancer, I wanted to show them the same level of support they’ve shown me my entire life. When I first heard about Throw Pink I knew I wanted to get involved and help spread awareness of women’s health through my favorite sport. How you got into the game: I tagged along with a friend just because that’s what he was doing that day, and then one day he said, “okay, we’re going to disc golf this year” and I said okay! I didn’t really know what that meant but then I fell in love with the sport and all the intricacies of disc flight and I couldn’t put the discs down. Before I knew it I was doing fieldwork and signing up for tournaments.
Why do you Throw Pink? I Throw Pink to help grow the game of disc golf among women and girls and get people outside! I also Throw Pink because in March of 2020 my family found out that my stepmom had breast cancer. I had introduced her to disc golf that summer and she has continued to play through her first round of chemo, second round of chemo, and into radiation. I love that disc golf is something I can still do with her.
Favorite disc golf moment: One of my favorite moments this year was winning my first FPO tournament at the Haunting at the preserve.

How you got into the game:
Our family friend came over one day and asked if we ever played disc golf. We said no, and he let us throw his discs. My husband and I then went and bought our own and started throwing every week. Six years later we have our own backyard course, 20 baskets, and a few layouts. Course 42 has had Pro players, Casey White, Alyssa Pierson, and Raven Klien play the course.
Why do you Throw Pink?
Getting females to play in a male-dominated sport is hard. I teach martial arts at my local school. Each year more and more girls signup. I think having a female influence encourages other girls that they can do it. I can see the confidence grow and each student and would love to see that more in disc golf.
Favorite disc golf moment:
The 2021 Preserve Championships in Clearwater, MN. This was the first Major event I went to. I was able to get my disc signed by everyone! I was also able to finally meet Catrina Allen.

How you got into the game: My husband has been playing since he was 16 Yrs old. (We are 43 Yrs old now) He tried to get me to play but I would throw a few times and absolutely hated it. I was a dedicated softball player 4-5 nights a week. Then his family The Weinackers from Mobile, Alabama came to Nashville for the Music City Open in August 2019. We drove them to all the various courses that the 5 of them were scheduled to play. I would watch & walk with them when I picked them up. I was like “Wait a minute! This is organized and competitive! I thought this was some dumb recreational activity.” So once I found out that disc golf had organized tournaments. We played casually as much as we could. I went to a course maintenance workday; nervous as hell, just waiting for some man to say something mean & ill to me. The guys were nice. I kept coming back.
There you go! I fell in love with the competition and community. Something that I was missing in softball for some reason. I played my first tournament in October 2019 and have not looked back once. Y’all are stuck with me!
Why do you Throw Pink? I hate to say it but I do not like the color pink or any shades of it. But I know that it’s far beyond my color preferences. It represents women’s health and that is extremely important to me. That far outweighs my petty color preference. I love disc golf and I support women and I am a woman so why not Throw Pink. It just makes sense. Duhhhh!
Favorite disc golf moment: I don’t think that I have one particular one. I love playing with my local ladies. I love playing out of town! I love traveling and hunting for courses with my husband! I love playing all women’s tournaments such as Ben Swam’s Alabama Women’s Disc Golf Championship, Jenny San Filippo’s Sparkle Open, and the Atlanta GaLS Fall Frenzy!

How you got into the game: My fiance at the time and now husband got me started. I thought it was so cool that disc golf was so similar to golf. I played golf in college and loved that disc golf was new and different. I got hooked to it!
Why do you Throw Pink? I Throw Pink because I love what Throw Pink stands for. I want to help women get outside and to be more active. I love that being outside allows you to relax and enjoy what’s around you. As a Certified Personal Trainer, it is so important to get exercise and I love that Throw Pink encourages women and girls all through the game of disc golf to be active. Throw Pink is great at bringing women and girls together in a safe and fun environment based around disc golf.
Favorite disc golf moment: My favorite disc golf moment would be when I got an ace on number 5 at Fewell Park. It was a short uphill backhand hyzer shot with my Harp. I got such a huge rush and sense of accomplishment when it smashed into the chains. I jumped up and down in joy for about 2 minutes with my husband haha!

How you got into the game: I was introduced to disc golf when I was 15 years old by my brother and cousin. I wanted to get out of the house, and this was something that quickly became an interest to me. I have taken several breaks since my teens but the passion that was ignited has always burned deep and true.
Why do you Throw Pink? I Throw Pink because I believe in uplifting, empowering, inspiring women to thrive in their lives, and Throw Pink is all about that life! It’s an honor to be a Throw Pink team member with the opportunity to help make a difference in the lives of others.
Favorite disc golf moment: In 2005, when I took the California Amateur State Championships. It was a fight to the finish with a shoot out as I was tied for 1st. Working hard for that title, I carried that accomplishment with me for many years until I came back to the sport 15 years later. I love how the many moments of accomplishments and successes hold a special place in my heart, which I treasure to this day. Making many more to last a lifetime!

How you got into the game: My ex-boyfriend’s friends took us out to try disc golf one day and I was immediately hooked. After we separated, I continued with it and eventually introduced my current boyfriend to the sport once we got together. We’ve both worked together to learn and improve our game and it’s taken over our lives, in a positive way of course. After realizing that disc golf is the only thing I’ve stuck with and have a passion for, I’ve decided to dedicate most of my life to it. Just from the short amount of time I’ve been apart of the disc golf community, so many doors have opened and I’m so excited to see what the future holds.
Why do you Throw Pink? I Throw Pink because I’m passionate about supporting women’s health and know how important it is in every aspect of life. Promoting women’s health through activity is important for physical and mental health, and disc golf is a tool that can be used for both. After battling many health issues myself, I’ve come to realize how broken our healthcare system is, which has pushed me to become passionate about the subject. I want to help other women realize that we aren’t helpless when it comes to improving ourselves and our health and we can take charge to bring light to the issue.
Favorite disc golf moment: In my very first tournament, I got my first ace and ended up taking first place. This was the first time I had confidence in my game and knew I needed to believe in myself more.

Why do you Throw Pink? To help support women’s health and to help show that disc golf not only promotes a physically healthy lifestyle but it also supports mental health. I hope to someday integrate my future career as a social worker with getting more women involved in disc golf and Throw Pink’s format is the way to go.

Why do you Throw Pink?
I Throw Pink to show women that there IS a community for them. No matter their background, age, race, religion, etc., there is a welcoming place for all women to connect, grow, and support women’s health initiatives together. Finding a solid community as an adult woman can be difficult, but through organizations like Throw Pink, it’s made possible.
Favorite disc golf moment:
My favorite disc golf moment so far was USWDGC 2022. I was able to bring a few new women along to play their first major, and we had the most fabulous week together in Wisconsin! For me, disc golf is community, and the most fulfilling thing is being able to introduce women into this sport and help foster their love for it and growth within it.

How you got into the game: My uncle introduced me to the Frisbee and disc world before one of our extended hikes in the Daniel Boone National Forest when I was younger.
We would toss a Frisbee in the parking lot to warm up while we waited for our hiking group to arrive. Hole one would usually start something like this…
“Tee from here. Around the tree, under the car, hit the trash can to score in the least amount of throws as possible”.
The rest is history.
Why do you Throw Pink? Throwing Pink allows me an opportunity to have a significant impact and influence in my direct community through disc golf; a sport we all love.

How did you get into the game? Through my brother, Jesse, who, back in 1975, had heard that the Los Angeles Frisbee Club was forming at Oak Grove (which is now Hahamongna Watershed Park) in Pasadena, California. Once there, we were introduced to Frisbee golf. Back then, you only needed two Frisbees to play: one to throw and one to mark your lie.
Why do you Throw Pink? I just love Throw Pink’s Mission Statement — their goal (as said on their discs: “Play Disc Golf – Have Fun – Make a Difference”) and the way the women’s community has been inspired (and also still keeps growing) through the efforts of visionaries/co-founders Harold Duvall (I knew him as a teen!!) and Sara Nicholson.
